Javier absence not a problem for Rafa

Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez said on Monday that the injury of Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano would not pose a problem for the Reds.

Masch pulled a hamstring during shooting practice before the group E clash against Fiorentina tonight but Benitez feels that there are other players available.

"It's not a problem, we can manage with Stevie (Gerrard) or others. To lose a player like Javier is not good but we will try to find a solution. There are three or four others who can play there," said Benitez.

Rafa will be waiting for the recovery of Italian International Alberto Aquilani, the midfield maestro will be well suited to rotate with Javier Mascherano. With Gerrard and Torres heading up the attack Liverpool will be on formidable force.

Liverpool has gone through a “transformation” this season from being a solid defensive unit to an all out “Spanish style” attack with quick movement and passing. Already scoring 22 goals in their first 7 matches. But even so the defence look still shaky, the inclusion of Glen Johnson helped to an extent but there are one or two nervous feet on the back four.

Slovakia centre-back Martin Skrtel believes it's the basics that the defence is missing, this leading to Liverpool conceding more goals than normal.

"There's no defensive problem, we made some mistakes and conceded some goals. We just need to progress on some simple things, on the details and we will get better, we'll get more clean sheets," Skrtel said.
