K-day - once was not enough

Once a year is definitely not enough! The first thing that needs to be said is a huge thank you to KFM and Sanlam Santam for organising a day to be enjoyed by four-year-olds to 50-year-olds and everyone in-between. One may think that having some 13 500 people in one place would be chaotic, uncomfortable and simply irritating, but Kday was everything but that. Everything was laid out in the simplest of ways and the organisation was phenomenal.
K-day - once was not enough

There was something for everyone: a play area for parents to take their children, a beer tent for the boys wanting to discuss the rugby they were missing, a dance area for the teenagers bopping away to the tunes, and more open space to sit on than anyone knew what to do with.

Companies such as Spur, Jimmy's Prawns, Polar ice cream, Castle and other vendors got involved to ensure that all the Kdayers were provided for and had everything they could possible need to keep them happy.

Some of SA's best artists

The line-up included some of South Africa's best artists, such as Prime Circle, The Parlotones, Locnville, Danny K, The Arrows, DJ Kent, Good Luck, Loyiso, and Flash Republic. Each and every one of them reminded us that these are artists from South Africa, from home - these are our people and that just made the day or the more amazing to be a part of.

Note to those who plan on going next year: Try to pack lightly because lugging everything back and forth is a mission and you will always have to have someone watching everything. There isn't really that much that you need because everything is provided and it's honestly not that expensive. (This is a student talking and I spend my life on a budget.)

Once again a big thank you to everyone involved (and the 13 500 other people who spent the day with us) it was honestly a day never to be forgotten. And should you decide to have more than one Kday a year, I'm sure you wouldn't hear too many complaints!
