The convention was well attended by over 65 delegates from the industry.

One of the highlights of the convention was listening to Joseph A Lewis, the cosmetic chemist behind the development and launch of the industry's top anti-ageing ingredients, namely AHA's and Idebenone. He spoke on the latest anti-oxidants that are currently being incorporated into medical aesthetics.

Business-orientated lectures

Also met with great enthusiasm was the more business-orientated lectures namely the ethics considerations in medi-aesthetics and the hot topic of the moment, The Consumer Protection Act, given by SAMA representative Ulundi Behrtel.

With summer just around the corner it was great to prepare for the busy season ahead with the topic of medical weight loss presented by Dr Gys Du Plessis and Chris Giezing.

As part of the two-day line-up we also had some live demonstrations, namely acupuncture for facial rejuvenation and a lip-filler demonstration.

Sponsors of the event were Pharmaplan and Secrets of Youth aesthetic Training.

The next convention will be held 18-19 March 2012 at the Spier Convention Centre in Cape Town.
