Gaoses joins the short-term insurer from her current position as director: Insurance & Pensions, Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA), Botswana. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the insurance industry in Southern Africa, having also held a number of senior roles in Namibia, Swaziland and Botswana.

"The continent is a core strategic focus for Mutual & Federal as we look to strengthen our existing interests in Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe while exploring opportunities in other countries," says LeRoy Munetsi, executive: Africa and New Markets, Mutual & Federal. "We are delighted that Marcelina has agreed to join us and fill this vital position. Namibia is a key business and has consistently produced strong underwriting results. She brings the right mix of experience, skill and focus to the position, and will also play a key role in our broader strategy for the continent at large."

Gaoses fills the vacancy left by the retirement last year of Gersom Katjimune who was managing director of Mutual & Federal Namibia for ten years. Katjimune was instrumental in the expansion of the company in Namibia, helping to make it one of the most powerful short term insurance providers in the country.

"I also would like to express our appreciation to Japie Le Roux, chief operating officer, Mutual & Federal Namibia, for playing a much valued leadership role in the company while the managing director position was vacant," says Munetsi. "We look forward to the management team continuing to work together to drive our vision to be the insurer of choice in Namibia."
