Africa is going places - 12 Sep 2011
By Evan-Lee CourieWe Africans are spreading our wings and making things happen on our continent:
The South African Institute of Marketing Management has joined forces with Zambia's Institute of Marketing, the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe and the Marketing Society of Kenya to launch the African Marketing Confederation, which aims to promote and maintains standards of professional skills, ability, ethics and integrity among marketers through the various African marketing bodies.
Then, last week, Aegis Media, in conjunction with Bizcommunity, held the first of many marketing/media online digital debates. The inaugural 'Thought Leadership Digibate', themed "The Africa Question", was streamed live to about 5000 listeners worldwide via Cape-Town-based online radio community station TheTaxi.co.za. If you missed the show, download or listen to the podcasts in our special section.
Ghana will also host the Africa Brand Conference in Accra, 3-4 November 2011. This year's conference will focus on digital marketing in the face of the fast-growing use of social media and will help expose African businesses to social media branding tactics to help them to expand their markets.
Not only that, CNBC Africa and the Namibian Broadcast Corporation have sealed a partnership that will see quality business news content from the channel broadcast across Namibia, and Universal Networks International (UNI), together with MultiChoice, have also announced that they will launch movie channel Studio Universal on the DStv platform to reach 47 countries across the continent.
Now aren't we flying high?!
