The popular application can be installed from a CD or a slimmed-down version can be accessed via the Web. It comes with pre-loaded images of typical bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living areas, but the ability to upload a digital image in the full version available on CD-ROM makes it even more life-like. Creative homemakers can now experiment with colour in one of their own rooms, uploaded via a .jpg image, before embarking on a redecorating project.
The 'photo to palette' function enables the user to upload an image and extract a colour palette from the image. This allows the user to photograph an inspirational room with the intent of applying some or all of the colours to a home redecoration project. Lighting at the time that the photograph was taken needs to be considered, but even so the program gives a close representation and is far easier than trying to imagine what a wall would look like using a colour chip.
New functions are continually being explored and added to enhance the application. Recently added functions make editing even easier, while the ability to save or email colour schemes allows ideas to be shared.
The comprehensive Help function incorporates text help as well as audio and visual explanations of how to get the most out of the tool. This ensures that users become confident in a short space of time.
