“We do all the thinking for you! Our meals are enjoyable and affordable. We try to get people out of an eating rut, and take the stress out of dinner planning all at the same time,” comments Oemami founder Tanja Horn.

Recipes to make you say “Oe Mami”

The name ‘Oemami’ was derived from the word ‘umami’- which means ‘pleasant savoury taste’ - with a new element of enjoyment added to it. “Oe Mami”, as South Africans would sometimes say!

Oemami offers a subscription service to weekly meal plans, with brand new tried and tested meal plans sent out to our subscribers with supporting recipes. Subscribers are also able to save recipes to their own collection of favourites, create shopping lists, adjust serving sizes and gain access to helpful cooking tips and tricks!

Figuring out what to cook every single day can be extremely stressful, but having a ‘go to’ meal plan on hand makes life so much easier. Oemami’s meal plans mean no more planning, and shopping lists created in less than 60 seconds!

“We know people love to cook at home and try new recipes, but we also know that too much time gets spent finding ideas, whether online or in recipe books. Oemami loves helping you by taking the weekly meal planning burden off your hands allowing you more time to do the things you love to do,” explains Horn.

Never get bored with mealtime again

The site is updated regularly and the weekly meal-plan subscription includes numerous recipes from South African classics to various recipes from around the world. Users are also encouraged to try new flavours and explore different meals from other cultures.

“The idea is for users to have fun with the recipes and make it their own. We want to encourage them to cook from the heart and simply adjust recipes to better suite their taste, while exploring new and different spices and ingredients. In other words, colour outside the lines a little,” says Horn.

Oemami’s goal is to help people enjoy making dinner without the stress, and become comfortable with different flavours, all while learning and having fun.
