2010 Metropolitan Oliver Empowerment Awards open for business!

Topco Media have announced that nominations are now open for this year's Metropolitan Oliver Empowerment Awards (MOEA), to be held on 25 March at the Sandton Convention Centre.

This annual event is South Africa's pre-eminent Black Economic Empowerment awards initiative. Topco Media's flagship awards acknowledge, congratulate and celebrate the efforts made by ALL local companies across the board, from leading corporate, small individual companies and government departments towards the development and promotion of employment equity and who drive B-BBEE in every sphere of South African life.

Last year's winners include iBurst; Bonitas Medical Fund; Woolworths; First Rand Limited; The Kelly Group; Telkom Foundation; First National Bank; Super Group Limited; Maserumule Incorporated Attorneys; Department of Defence; Johannesburg Water (Pty) Ltd and the National Empowerment Fund. The ‘Top Black Business' award went to African Access Holdings (Pty) Ltd and their CEO, Shaun Battlemann, won the ‘Top Black Entrepreneur' award. Geeta Singh from Voltsing Electrical was given the ‘Top Black Businesswoman of the Year' award and Mfundo Wiseman Thango; the CEO of Mpilende Foods (Pty) Ltd received the ‘Top Young Black Entrepreneur (under 35)' award. Mthunzi Mdwaba from Torque Technical Computer Training (Pty) Ltd received the ‘Top Black Businessman' award.
