Surfboards are highly toxic and carry a 180kg carbon footprint. Meet Sea Change - a brand committed to empowering and educating surfers on a greener, cleaner way of enjoying the natural sport of surfing.
To spread the brand's message at the Wavescapes 2016 Surf Film Festivals held in both Cape Town and Durban, South Africa, we created a series of cleverly illustrated posters uniquely constructed to both inspire our message of sustainability, as well as enable festival goers with something they could physically use.
Each poster was laser engraved into cork, to add texture and grip, to make the poster entirely surfable as an eco-friendly deck pad on surfboards. And no inks, meant no toxins.
The surfing community have their own dictionary of surfing jargon, so we used wordplay with surf vernacular to communicate the movement’s ideology.
