The 33 project collaboration lexicon terms every entrepreneur should know

If projection collaboration is important for your business, as it is for most others, you should really become familiar with the corporate lexicon that's commonly used during collaborative projects, starting with the following alphabetical list of 33 terms:
1. Activity – Any task that's performed within the project.

2. Actor - Any person who is involved with taking action in the project.

3. Collaborator - Any person that participates in executing the collaboration.

4. Committee Project (COPROJ) – A collaborative project that involves managers from different sectors and committees within the company.

5. Coordination Committee – A strategic group, or Steering Committee (see definition below), which consists of both in-house and external actors.

6. Contributors – Every single person involved in the project. This would even include consultants and people that are interviewed either formally or informally during the project.

7. Dashboard – An interface that centralizes the main functional aspects and metrics of a project.

8. Decision-maker – An actor that is tasked with the responsibility of making and enforcing decisions.

9. Executive Committee (COMEX) – The overarching committee of owners, managers, and decision makers in all company projects.

10. Expert – A contributor that brings proven professional experience or expertise.

11. Kick-off Meeting – The first meeting of any collaborative project; an important step to make sure everyone is on the same page.

12. Knowledge Management – The field, study, and practice of managing and developing human knowledge within a company.

13. Launch – The initial start-up period of a project. Thus, the first day is often called “Launch Day”.

14. Matrix of Responsibilities – Comprehensive overview of the tasks and responsibilities of each actor involved in the process.

15. Objective – A specific goal that the project is intended to achieve.

16. Operational Committee – A project committee that consists of both COMEX and external contributors.

17. Key Performance Indicator (KPI) – The KPI, also commonly referred to as simply “performance indicator” is the measurement of the project's most critical performance metric (i.e. sales, engagement, percentage of deadlines met, etc.).

18. Platform – Any online interface that's used to facilitate simplified and streamlined collaboration.

19. Process – A series of tasks/activities that are done to achieve a specific objective.

20. Project Management – The creation of mandated activities and deadlines that ensure a project will be completed as intended.

21. Project Manager – The primary actor tasked with the responsibility of handling all aspects of project management (see definition above), including punctuality, quality, communication, task delegation, etc.

22. Project Team – A term used to describe all of the actors assigned to the project.

23. Provider – An external/third-party entity that is used to facilitate certain activities or provide services needed to complete the project.

24. Resource Levelling – Prioritising planned activities and tasks based on the availability of resources.

25. Resources – Anything required to execute a project. This term can be used to describe software, equipment, inventory, staff, materials, and capital.

26. Resource Allocation – The practice of allocating resources in the most effective and logical manner.

27. Sponsor – Someone who provides funding or other support. Often used to describe a client or someone who represents a client.

28. Steering – Self-explanatory term for guiding a project in the right direction.

29. Steering Committee (COPIL) – A group of actors/collaborators tasked with the responsibility of steering (see definition above).

30. Task – The individual actions involved in a project (i.e. writing, researching, publishing, verifying, etc.)

31. Videoconferencing – A video chat that helps team members collaborate.

32. Work Committee – A group of workers that are assembled specifically for the duration of the current project.

33. Workshop – A meeting that is specifically geared towards education, research, and brainstorming.
