Nominated in the category for telecommunications, media, television and press, Falken is well-known for her dedication towards women's issues, constantly creating awareness through her radio show, magazine columns or community involvement. She lives a balanced life and her typical day includes the roles of presenter, wife, mother, business owner, communication junkie and lover of knowledge, great music and warm apple pie.
When asked about her nomination, Falken said: "I am honoured and flattered, and of course I would like to win it, but I don't go on the air to win awards, I do it for the love of it and one of the biggest rewards is being able to help others while I do what I love."
She continues to say, "I honestly feel that I don't need to win, that just being nominated already places me in the company of great women who work hard and strive for success and then endeavour to give back to their communities."
"We are extremely proud of Saskia and it is testament to the hard work and passion she has for her profession," said Gavin Meiring, Heart 104.9FM Station Manager.
Winners of the Western Cape leg of the competition will be announced on the 10th of August 2011. Make sure to tune into the Mid Morning Mix weekdays on Heart 104.9FM between 9am and 12am to catch Saskia doing what she loves best.
