A full product line-up at Propak Africa

Propak Africa, the largest packaging, food processing and labelling exhibition in Africa, was held at the Expo Centre Nasrec, Johannesburg, South Africa in Gauteng from 12-15 March 2019.

Veteran exhibitor, Pyrotec, displayed operational coding and labelling equipment that was fully integrated using PackLink customised product tracking system, the company’s on-pack product identification solutions, as well as an array of self-adhesive label application systems.

Among an impressive line-up of equipment demonstrated, Pyrotec PackMark showcased its ultra-portable Anser U2 mobile hand-held printer and the 9450 Small Character Inkjet coder from Markem-Imaje.

The Anser U2 mobile hand-held unit is versatile, lightweight and adept at handling even the trickiest print surfaces. It can be carried anywhere and prints at any angle on a variety of substrates and products.

Also on show was the 9450 Small Character Inkjet coder that improves the efficiency of production processes. Designed to support overall equipment efficiency, this coder offers full availability, and matches line speeds while securing products with the correct codes.

Other equipment on show included thermal transfer and small character inkjet printers, label applicators, box coders, and SmartLase laser coding equipment, among others. Many of these machines were demonstrated live to provide visitors with the opportunity to see the equipment in action.

Causing great excitement on the stand, Pyrotec PackMedia launched a ground-breaking first for Africa – the installation of a Durst Tau 330 RSC eight-colour digital label press as the foundation for the company's latest venture into digital label printing. The Tau 330 RSC is an industrial-scale digital UV inkjet label and package printing press that offers unmatched speed (up to 78m/min) and eight colour stations (CMYK+W+OVG), as well as highly-pigmented inks, which deliver outstanding flexo-like print quality with close to 98% Pantone colour gamut.

Brandon Pearce, Pyrotec PackMark’s general manager says: ‘We were pleased with the interest in our machines at the show, particularly our labelling equipment and customisable PackLink software.
