Uganda scoops international meeting

Uganda will be hosting the next Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kampala in November this year. High level dignitaries, including the Queen of England, are expected to attend the meeting. The event will be broadcast worldwide.

Brian Kennedy, Managing Director for international exhibitions and events company, Oasys Innovations, is proud to have been chosen to supply the infrastructure. “The fact that we have again been chosen after the first CHOGM, which was held in Abudja, Nigeria in 2003, is a vote of confidence by the organizers in the work we performed then. Our assignment was to supply the hardware infrastructure in the form of interview booths, media desks, briefing rooms, information centers, rest areas and control centers, all for members from the international media who visited Nigeria for this event.”

Kennedy says that his company is preparing to transfer 40 tons of equipment for exhibitions and electrical infrastructure, furniture and graphics. The cargo will be sent by aircraft from Johannesburg to Entebbe in Uganda, and will then be transferred 60 kilometers to Kampala. A project team from Oasys Innovations will manage the build-up and stand-by of the event and will prepare the total consignment for its return to South Africa via sea freight.

Kennedy concludes: “We are very excited about this project as it will enhance our current experience to partner the task masters for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.”
