J.P. Morgan challenging runners for a good cause

Each participant at the 2017 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge® will be running or walking for a good cause in the world's premier corporate fitness event on Thursday, 30 March, at the Wanderers.

Promoting a healthy work-life balance and a sense of camaraderie among the business community, the corporate challenge also takes a strong CSI theme.

Every year J.P. Morgan, in celebration of the corporate challenge, makes a donation to a non-profit organisation as part of its corporate responsibility. For the fourth consecutive year, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation will be the event beneficiary in Johannesburg.

Previous J.P. Morgan donations have aided the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation with the various sports-based community initiatives it supports around the country.

Supporting 22 projects in over 80 communities nationwide, the foundation uses the power of sport to address social challenges and effect positive social change.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over R80m for projects and programmes which have improved the lives of more than 100,000 young people.

At the recent Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco, the locally based programme Waves for Change – supported by the Laureus Foundation -- received the prestigious Sport for Good Award.

The Waves for Change programme uses the sport of surfing to change the lives of vulnerable and at-risk South African youth.

When more than 13,000 participants from 227 companies line up for the 5.6km around the Melrose area, they will also be doing it in support of initiatives such as Waves for Change.

The post-race entertainment and hospitality will once again round off the event which will be headlined by GoodLuck, South Africa’s most exciting live electronic band.

GoodLuck’s music is an irresistible blend of electronica, pop and subtle influences of jazz that will keep the party going long after the race.
