Johannesburg Child Welfare Society counts on Maximizer CRM to help raise funds

Maximizer Software (TSX: MAX), the leading provider of simple, accessible customer relationship management (CRM) solutions, has announced that The Johannesburg Child Welfare Society (JCWS) is counting on Maximizer CRM to help raise the millions of rands that the society needs every year to fund its activities.

Founded in 1909, the JCWS is a non-profit organisation providing a range of direct services to abused, abandoned, neglected, orphaned and vulnerable children in the Greater Johannesburg area of South Africa. During its last financial year, the society supported over 18,000 underprivileged children, families and communities through a team of highly qualified professionals.

The Maximizer system has been installed in JCWS's marketing and fundraising department where it will help develop and maintain essential contact with private donors and corporate sponsors as part of the society's drive to bring in over R30 million during 2009.

Nicola Vogel, who has responsibility for fundraising and co-ordinating volunteers for JCWS, explained that it is the society's vision to provide holistic child protection services to children - and everyone involved with the organisation works very hard to bring this vision to life.

"The society is fortunate in that it has a solid foundation of sponsors, donors and individuals who contribute practically and financially so we can continue our vital work in the communities that we serve. But the current economic downturn is making it harder to secure the essential funding that we need to supplement the subsidy that the South African government provides,” Vogel says.

“We put a lot of time and effort into mail shots, telephone calls and setting up fundraising events such as corporate lunches and golf days - as well as events organised by schools and churches. The society celebrates its centenary this year and we are focused on making as much of this landmark date as possible. We are looking to the Maximizer CRM system to help us better understand our donor community.

“There is a distinct cycle of giving - they may start as volunteers, then donate something second hand and then become regular donors and ultimately make a bequest. Maximizer will help identify those who are active donors, and track when they last gave, how they prefer to receive information and so on. As we build up a history over the coming months we'll be able to use Maximizer's reporting ability to assess the success of our fund raising activities. We will also fine tune our database, making sure it is up to date and that we communicate effectively with donors on a regular basis. Ultimately, we are looking to ensure a steady flow of donations.”

Vogel pays tribute to Camsoft Solutions, a Maximizer Certified Business Partner, which has made a valuable contribution to the society in the form of free training and advice.

“The JCWS is fulfilling a real need in the region and we are delighted to have the opportunity to put something back into the local community,” says Camsoft Solutions Director, Mark Arnett. “Maximizer CRM is very intuitive to use but we have concentrated on helping to shorten the learning curve for Nicola and her team so they can realise the benefits as quickly as possible.”

Mike Richardson, Managing Director EMEA for Maximizer Software, comments: “It is great to see Maximizer CRM being put to such good use outside the commercial sector. By tracking donor activities the society will be able to quickly deploy new initiatives and evaluate their impact - vital in helping to achieve funding targets.”
