Says Kyle Jones, ABF Johannesburg Committee Member, "Saving Silence are a brilliant local act and have performed at venues like the Firkin Pub in Centurion, Cool Running's and at Fooba. I think they will definitely entertain those attending and make it a great evening."
"It's crucial to have great entertainment at any event, but especially towards the end of the year when batteries are running low," says Sharlene Vallance, Executive Committee Member. "It's a divine time of the year for our industry because we get to have some fun while making sure that the people who have approached the ABF for support during the festive season are being looked after."
"The monetary amount provided to members is up significantly. Up until August 2010 the ABF had given away R253 761.44 while as at August this year, 2011, we've already paid out R339 509.12," says Riana Stander, Treasurer of the ABF Vital Support Fund. "While we were hoping that things would ease up financially a bit for us, it looks like the recession has left a dreadful mark on the industry and we are battling to keep up with the demand. An act like Saving Silence will definitely boost our Crazy Golf Day and we encourage all parties to attend the evening."
Airport Media have been kind enough to support the ABF by sponsoring the appearance of Saving Silence for the Crazy Golf Day. Airport Media are a proud and loyal sponsor of the ABF Vital Support Fund. "Whenever we ask for their help, they always come through," says Vallance. "It is comforting and encouraging to know that with a phone call the owners of Airport Media will help us in any way that they can. The ABF would really like to thank them for this as we know it will make a material difference to our event," she says.
For the first time since the inception of the Crazy Golf Day event the ABF have decided to invite people to attend dinner and to watch Saving Silence perform at Kyalami Golf Course. The cost for dinner and entry is R120 per person and a simple mail to az.oc.fba@enelrahs
will secure your spot.
"It's really a beautiful time of year, a summer evening of entertainment and good food is more than anyone can ask for," says Vallance. "We will also have a disco afterwards and there is a cash bar, so we encourage supporters of the ABF who are not golfers to join us for a great evening. The fact that you may not play golf, is no longer an excuse!"
