Saying sorry can go a long way

After the whole fiasco of MetropolitanRepublic withdrawing its MTN Project Uganda entry which was found not to have met the Loeries entry criteria, and recanting statements which was made during an interview on SAfm recently, the board of the Loeries has accepted the agency's apology. The Homecoming Revolution last week hosted its first VIP think tank at Norton Rose Fulbright offices in Johannesburg. Some great diaspora insights were revealed at the event showing a fascinating duality of both love and hate that Africans have for their homeland. Five key themes that emerged from discussions were the Duality of African Pride; Inspiring Entrepreneurship; Managing Homecomer's expectations; Country Strengths & Weaknesses; and Recommendations for Homecoming Revolution. There seems to be a 'new kid on the block' after Forbes Africa named Nigerian commodities tycoon, Abdulsamad Rabiu, whose wealth has climbed to $1.2 billion from $670 million in 2012, as Africa's new billionaire. Finally, if you missed last week's Biz Takeouts Show, listen to the podcast which is now available. Cheers! Ilse van den Berg, Editor: Marketing & Media Africa (@Biz_Africa)
