Now in its eighth year, eLearning Africa will one again bring together a wide range of perspectives on ICT for development, education and training and takes place in Windhoek, Namibia, starting on Wednesday, 29 May and running until Friday, 31 May 2013 - under the theme 'Policy and Innovation in Education in Africa'. Tradition, Change and Innovation are the overall themes for eLearning Africa 2013, but the main focus of the conversations that will take place is on local innovation in education, on tablets, mobiles and MOOCs; on healthcare delivery and on livelihoods and agriculture, especially for rural communities. This year our focus will be on innovation and we are all really proud that some of the most exciting and innovative new solutions in education have been pioneered and developed in Africa - Rebecca Stromeyer, founder of eLearning Africa and executive director of organisers, ICWE. A team from the South African College of Business will be attending and we're expecting to publish the latest updates with all the happenings from the conference - so if this is your interest, you know where to come. In news this week:

• Airtel sponsors Big Brother Africa 8. The latest season of the popular reality television series started yesterday will be screened live 24/7 on DStv channels 197 and 198.
• International business publication, Forbes Africa shows growth in circulation figures, according to the African Bureau of Circulations of South Africa.
• When it comes to marketing FMCG brands on the African continent, a one-size-fits-all approach does not work says Michael Wood. This week he provides some insight on how to connect FMCG brands with African consumers.
• In 2012, the Loeries launched the Africa and the Middle East category for entries from outside South Africa to allow improved representation and offer greater exposure to each country's creative output. If you think you have what it takes, you still have this week to submit your entries. Entries to Loeries close this Friday, 31 May. This year, two judges from these regions, Alan Edgar from Ogilvy Africa in Kenya and Kalpesh Patankar from Y&R Dubai, will join the judging at Loeries Creative Week Cape Town from 16-22 September 2013.
