So after numerous public holidays here in South Africa, business seems to be back on track. If you missed out on what's been happening, here are some news items that caught my eye:

• The 5th BRICS Summit has come and gone (and the first time in Africa). President of the African Development Bank, Donald Kaberuka sheds some light on what was expected.
• Pan-African music television channel MTV Base reaches a digital milestone - notching up a landmark 1 million fans on its Facebook page. If you're interested to see how various brands are doing in Africa, check out www.socialbakers.com.
• According to Regus, 'Coffee shop working' may be trendy in some Western cities, but laptops with latte are not an option for business people in Rwanda.
• Bharti Airtel has appointed Charity Chanda Lumpa as managing director of its operation in Zambia
• At the end of April, BlackBerry Jam Tour Africa heads to Botswana. This is an opportunity for mobile apps developers to learn about the future of BlackBerry
