    Getting your PRISM in

With only a few weeks until the 27 January deadline for submitting entries for the PRISM Awards of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA), here are some tips that you may find useful to assist you in compiling an award-winning entry.

    1. Follow Instructions

The PRISA PRISM Awards celebrate excellence in public relations campaigns. Focus your entry on the elements of a good PR campaign: needs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Each of these elements must be clearly described and documented for a successful entry.

    2. Submit Quality, not Quantity

The biggest entries do not necessarily win. While it is important that your entry is complete, with all the elements outlined in the rules, it does not need to include every detail of the campaign. With limited time and many entries to evaluate, the judges appreciate high-quality entries that focus on the program requirements. Including vast quantities of information that is of little relevance will not improve your chance of success.

    3. Size Doesn't Count

Every well-planned and executed public relations campaign has the potential to win a PRISA PRISM Award. It is not the size of the budget or the client's high profile that determines who wins.

PRISA will be presenting its annual PRISA PRISM Awards on Thursday 16 March at The Forum, The Campus, Bryanston (Didata Campus) in Johannesburg.

Winners' entries will be entered into the international IPRA International (Public Relations Association) Awards. Their case study will also be published in the Financial Mail's AdReview in March.

For more information and to make a reservation, contact Susan Richardson at PRISA on tel 011 326 1262 or e-mail her at . More details on the Awards are available on the PRISA website http://www.prisa.co.za.
