ITWeb aims for a Mind Shift

Online media pioneer ITWeb has taken over the publishing of Mind Shift, a bi-monthly business magazine focused on sustainable development and aimed at people who can make the world a better place.

Mind Shift is a business magazine for people who can change the world – ‘can' in the sense that they have both the will and the position or power to alter the course of our thinking, and therefore our actions,” says Jovan Regasek, CEO of ITWeb and Mind Shift publisher.

“Each and every one of us can make a difference, but business people are in a particularly good position to do so. Our aim is to inspire our readers to be the catalysts – agents of change – and this is what really makes me excited.”

Regasek says Mind Shift's focus spans across business, economy, politics, culture and society. But the magazine also goes beyond daily politics and current affairs, looking at contemporary developments in the context of their far-reaching impact on the future of humanity.

Mind Shift is edited by Monica Graaff, an MBA from the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business, a business consultant around sustainability issues, and a journalist with over 20 years of experience in award-winning publishing.

    ”Hotbed”

“The world of business is increasingly complex and confusing,” says Graaff. “Business is operating on a hotbed of globalisation, poverty, climate change, resource depletion and terrorism, and is both part of the problem and the solution. Mind Shift will deal with these and numerous other challenges business must address in order to be sustainable.”

She says the magazine has been described by many readers as a “thinking person's publication”. Its readers are leaders and highly-educated individuals in South Africa's business, government, NGO and professional sectors, irrespective of age, race, creed or gender.

Graff points out that Africa is in the spotlight as it holds not only some of the world's greatest problems, but also the keys to some of the world's greatest solutions. “It is a land of opportunity. The ‘miracle' of our new democracy and our emergent African Renaissance offer inspiration. But where does business turn to for innovation and advice in order to be part of the action, and the solution?”

Mind Shift offers its readers a forum to debate these and other issues, and a chance to shift the way they think and change the way they do things,” adds Regasek.

    Thought leadership

Mind Shift is ITWeb's first title focused beyond the IT and telecoms arena. The magazine owes its origins to the UCT's GSB, which, in association with INCE, its corporate communications advisers, felt the need to provide a platform for grappling with the difficult issues facing business in emerging markets in our times.

“As a publishing house committed to thought leadership, ITWeb has now taken over the reins as its publisher, bringing more than a decade of experience as one of South Africa's most renowned and successful publishing groups,” says Regasek.

Mind Shift is distributed through major outlets in South Africa at R35 per issue. It is also available for subscription.
