Gateway, Altobridge shortlisted in 2011 Global Mobile Awards

JOHANNESBURG: A combined mobile connectivity product by Gateway Communications and Altobridge has been shortlisted in the 'Best Mobile Technology for Emerging Markets' category in the 2011 GSMA Global Mobile Awards. Gateway Communications, a supplier of African telecommunications services and Altobridge, a provider of GSM products for remote communities, launched the joint product in 2010.

The collaboration sees Gateway Communications' CellDirect, a bandwidth efficient VSAT solution, being combined with Altobridge lite-site; a GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) solution that optimises satellite backhaul and enables solar power. The 'Best Mobile Technology for Emerging Markets' category recognises companies who have used innovation and creativity to bring tailored, economical and compelling mobile services to emerging markets and demanding environments. The winners of the award will be announced during an afternoon awards ceremony and evening party to be hosted by British TV and radio presenter, Jonathan Ross, on Tuesday 15 February 2011 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
