Increase in cash in transit heists expected

Businesses and the public are requested to be vigilant as the festive season approaches. This comes after another cash in transit heist on 9 November 2011 in Orange Farm in Gauteng. According to SBV Services there were no cash losses or injuries suffered and one suspect has already been arrested.

"SBV Services also warns retailers to start looking at precautionary risk measures to avoid becoming a possible victim as the festive season closes in and general basic vigilance should be practiced at all times," says SBV's Mike Shipton.

In addition preventative measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the general public and for speedily arrests to be made against perpetrators. SBV warns that there will be dire consequences for criminals attempting to conduct cash in transit heists as stringent measures have been implemented during this period.
