The event will be aligned with Global Entrepreneurship Month, which is an international festival of entrepreneurship that aims to connect entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers, and ecosystem players.
Food systems around the world face this triple challenge which must be tackled together if we are to make sustainable progress in any of them. Making progress is indeed challenging, as initiatives in one domain can have inadvertent repercussions in another. Better policies will require breaking down silos between agriculture, environmental and health policies and overcoming knowledge gaps.
Leading agricultural voices will share their expert insights around a food systems approach and the opportunities and challenges policymakers need to consider when making better policies for food systems.
The three panellists that will engage in the roundtable include Tatjana von Bormann, a food system, strategy and strategic foresight specialist with a thematic focus on shaping the future of food production and consumption; Colleen Magner, co-founder and managing director of the Africa office for Reos Partners, a global organisation that addresses high-stakes challenges around the world; and Professor Sheryl L Hendriks, head of department and Professor of Food Security at the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development at the University of Pretoria and a food security policy expert with extensive experience in policy analysis and programme design.
The moderator, Mpho Mashita, is an author, social entrepreneur, radio presenter, MC, and conversation moderator.
