Barry Canning, MBSA divisional manager for product and planning, has been instrumental in drawing up the parameters of the MoU and in determining the areas where MBSA can assist the metro in its efforts to improve efficiencies and service delivery as part of a longer term sustainability strategy.
"With the 'Adopt a City' initiative of the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, we are keen to assist our own 'home town' in its determination and dedication towards changing the BCM into a real benchmark for South African cities and metros. That is our mutual aim.
"While the final agreement is yet to be signed, the only details I can share at this point are that the elements that MBSA will help implement at the metro will optimise service delivery and improve overall performance. These will certainly benefit all East Londoners - individuals, local government, industry, private and commercial enterprises alike," said Canning.
