Cape Town Bike Festival fast approaching

The Cape Town Bike Festival (CTBF), which celebrates bikes and biking culture, will be held at the Cape Town Stadium from 16 to18 December, 2011, starting every day with a breakfast run and ending long after sunset.

And what's more, not content with merely tearing up the neighbourhood flowerbeds, the CTBF will be desecrating the Cape Town Stadium turf as the Masters of Dirt bring their death-defying stunts to the party.

Festival-goers can expect the heady rush of exhaust fumes, a cacophony of international and local music acts, daring dirt bike extravaganzas and tattoo artists.

The CTBF will be a cultural fix that aims to attract not only the biking fraternity: the beats, broads, beefhearts and boneys, but additional music fans, families and visitors from around the globe.

Brian Capper doing stunts

During daytime festival hours, the custom-built racetrack will be used for Junior MX, scooter races and Supercross, while South Africa's Super Motard Champion, Brian Capper, will be performing stunts.

After dark, the arena will be transformed into a pyrotechnic production by the "Masters of Dirt Freestyle Show" (see preview at www.mastersofdirt.com/videos) and top rock and electronic music acts, headlined by rock band Seether.

Festival-goers can also expect amped-up bike demonstrations including a Custom Bike Build-Off (which will result in a local bike builder being sent to compete in the US), Miss Biker SA finalists, microbreweries in the beer garden, a feast of food available from the Food Market, biker merchandise stalls, and new model motorbike exhibitions and product displays.
