Now in its 10th year, Galileo hosts movie screenings set in some of the most picturesque locations across Cape Town and the Cape Winelands. Season 10 runs until 24 April 2022, showcasing a series of blockbuster hits, from family favourites to heart-warming romcoms, upbeat comedies and adored musicals.

Visitors can experience the new Royale cinema picnic option: an exclusive screening available at alternating venues, Radisson Blu Waterfront and Beau Constantia Wine Estate on the first Wednesday of each month. Thursdays and Sundays are reserved for the much-loved Kirstenbosch Gardens, while Fridays offer outdoor movie fans the chance to explore the city a little more, with rotating city venue favourites like Battery Park V&A Waterfront, Central Park in Century City and Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville.

Adults can relax on the lawns while the kids enjoy a giant game of jenga, swing ball or giant checkers and burn off some energy. The rest of the family can sample some of the artisanal goodness from the food and drink on-site mini-market, or enjoy a festive 'cheers' with loved ones under a canopy of stars.

    Festive movies

For the festive season, Galileo has made sure to provide a host of family-friendly screenings throughout December and January.

Enjoy 'Four Christmases' at Kirstenbosch Gardens on 23 December. Christmas Eve offers the chance to watch the seasonal classic 'The Grinch' at Meerendal and just in time for Christmas will be a special screening of 'Home Alone' where a Christmas hat, candy cane gifts and themed decor will add to the festive spirit. On Boxing Day will be another themed screening of 'Elf' - great for families and keeping little ones entertained post-Christmas.
