This will be its Distribution Trust Fund's first consultative indaba following provincial information sharing meetings, conducted by the NLB in October and November 2010. Many issues raised during these meetings relate to the restrictive current legislation.
Preparations for the indaba began with consultations held a month ago across all nine provinces, where stakeholders discussed priority areas for funding and provided feedback on the current funding model. The results of the provincial consultations informed the agenda for the national indaba, which will address the following areas:
Given the history and current context of the country, many organisations are not able to meet existing application requirements and the NLB believes that the funding model needs to be revisited and adjusted to close the identified gaps. Dr Rob Davies, Minister of Trade and Industry will officially open the conference.
