TEDxCapeTown in Perpetuity kicks off at Rocking the Daisies with Greenpop

To grow its audience, TEDxCapeTown is collaborating with key festivals to highlight relevant TED and TEDx talks. It will form part of the 10th annual 'Rocking The Daisies' (RTD) festival at Cloof Wine Estate in Darling on 1 - 4 October 2015, in partnership with Greenpop, Reliance Compost and Sunshine Cinema under the theme 'Plant, Pulse, Plate'.

The annual RTD music festival boosts a strong Eco/Social component and its mission is to "aim to host a premier music and lifestyle festival in an environmentally and socially responsible manner under the motto of play hard, tread lightly." In the last five years, RTD has won several Eco relevant awards for its efforts and each year a comprehensive Eco audit is conducted by an independent organisation.

TEDxCapeTown has partnered with Greenpop, a social enterprise that hosts the Green Village and Hemp Stage at RTD. Greenpop's mission is to (re)connect people with our planet and each other. They plant trees and have fun while doing it. This environmentally focused activation has been made possible through collaboration with Reliance Compost, that produces certified organic compost that adheres to global standards; and Sunshine Cinema, a mobile, solar-powered cinema that screens short films and hosts facilitated workshops to address social and environmental challenges in rural communities.

On Saturday and Sunday, festivalgoers can look forward to a carefully curated selection of TEDx talks mixed with a line-up of live speakers representing Greenpop, Reliance Compost, Hemporium and 100in1dayCapeTown.

These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised.*
