    Rennicks signs multi-million deal with Uniplate

    Rennicks Group has announced the signing of a multi-million euro agreement with Uniplate Group in South Africa for the supply by Rennicks of vehicle license plate materials to Uniplate to be marketed throughout the sub-Saharan region.

    The signing incorporates the renewal of the supply agreement for 2012 worth €1.8 million and the signing of a new five-year distribution agreement for €9.1 million over the term of the agreement. Uniplate is the largest number plate company south of the equator in Africa.

    The announcement was made during Enterprise Ireland's recent trade mission to South Africa which marked a major drive to increase the scale of Irish exports to South Africa. It was led by the Minister for Trade and Development, Jan O'Sullivan.

    Based in Mulhuddart, Dublin, Rennicks services the road infrastructure market and vehicle license plate market in Ireland, Britain and South Africa. With close on thirty years' experience, Rennicks is a leader in increased safety for road users by providing its customers with innovative turnkey solutions, durable traffic signs and traffic management products.

    A prestige relationship

    Uniplate South Africa, with its head office in Johannesburg and factory in Pretoria, was established in 1957 and has been the leader in the number plate market for the past 46 years.

    Welcoming the announcement Minister O'Sullivan said: "This is a prestige relationship for Rennicks, given the fact that Uniplate South Africa is the largest number plate company south of the equator in Africa and has been the innovative and professional leader in the number plate market in the region for almost half a century. The company's commitment to continuous innovation and investment in new products can be seen in its ever-increasing range of signage solutions."

    Michael Flanagan, MD of Rennicks said: "We are very pleased to have concluded this agreement with Uniplate. We have to expand our international search for additional new business. We envisage that our relationship with Uniplate will be the springboard and channel for further business development in sub-Saharan Africa."
