Cape IT Initiative appoints Greg Reis as chairman

Reis says he is honoured by the appointment as he is not only passionate about the IT industry but has always taken a personal interest in creating a strong ICT community. Reis has been a board member of CITi since inception in 1998, holding various portfolios.

"We have a limited number of graduates each year and organisations such as ours vying to attract the best. It is important that we work to reduce the loss of professional skills to Gauteng and other places overseas. At BSG we believe in being a proactive force for positive change, making a difference in everything we do. We are committed to helping individuals unlock their potential and accelerate their performance."

Cape operations are expanding

At the outset, CITi set its vision to become regionally and internationally recognised for excellence in its ability to innovate, generate investment, create jobs and grow revenue. Reis says that 14 years later the initiative has been very successful with more and more organisations moving or expanding their operations into the Cape, particularly the Western Cape. "We still have a way to go in increasing the attractiveness of the Cape as an IT location, attracting inward investment and developing ICT skills."

In addition to BSG's commitment to the ICT community via CITi, BSG also sits on the University Industry Advisory Boards in the Computer Science & Information Systems faculties of Rhodes, UCT, Wits, Pretoria, Stellenbosch and Fort Hare.
