Ravens, describes himself as having "an intense entrepreneurial spirit" and has extensive experience in leadership positions in the public and private sectors. This includes his ownership of a successful management consultancy before joining FIFA as project manager for the 2010 World Cup. Prior to accepting the role at Accelerate Cape Town, Ravens was the Group Executive: Strategic Partnerships at Blue IQ Investment Holdings (now known the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency) and then CEO of consulting company, TetraPlex.
In making the announcement Gavin Tipper, Chairman of Accelerate Cape Town, said: "On behalf of the board, sponsors and members, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Mr Ravens. He is a natural collaborator which, together with his commercial experience and entrepreneurial spirit, ideally positions him to take our organisation forward at this pivotal time. Ravens, who was born in Cape Town, is a graduate of the University of Cape Town (UCT) and holds, among other qualifications, a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the UCT Graduate School of Business.
