    Samsung presents #AmazeAfrica Show tonight

Samsung will present its #AmazeAfrica Show on the opening night of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa 2013, tonight, Wednesday 30 October, at the Pretoria City Hall.

In a unique design collaboration, it is bringing together 14 top-class fashion and accessory designers from across the African continent to showcase design talent at #AmazeAfrica, an initiative inspired by its global accelerating discoveries and possibilities philosophy.

Designers to be featured include talent from Nigeria, Cote D'Ivoire, Angola, Kenya, to name but a few - they have collaborated with highly esteemed accessory artists to create exclusive 'looks' in line with Samsung's initiative.

    Designers

The designers participating in the collaboration include:

    • 1981 by Nana Brenu (Ghana/Italy)
    • Adele Dejak (Uganda/Kenya)
    • Albertus Swanepoel (South Africa/US)
    • Doreen Mashika (Tanzania)
    • LaurenceAirline (Côte-d'Ivoire /France)
    • Loin Cloth & Ashes (Tanzania/South Africa)
    • Marianne Fassler (South Africa)
    • Missibaba (South Africa)
    • Pichulik (South Africa)
    • Projecto Mentale (Angola)
    • Quamta (South Africa)
    • Rift Valley Leather (Kenya)
    • Taibo Bacar (Mozambique)

The designers will consider the future of Africa's unique journey, in creating the garments. Each designer's creative will be deeply-rooted in nature - with inspiration drawn from the different types of historical fields, found in the Ditsong Museum (originally South Africa's first mint), located across the road from Pretoria City Hall in the City of Tshwane, where the show will be hosted.

Inspired by technology, the designers have collaborated to create a collective aesthetic that will come to life in four exclusive looks. Following the show, the garments and accessories will be on display in a specially curated gallery space. Notebook bags, note covers and pouches for Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 & Gear complemented by the Note 10.1, Note 8 and S4 Zoom are all a part of the limited edition premium handcrafted range.

"Just as the brand connects the continent through technology, it now has the opportunity to create a conversation through fashion," says Michelle Potgieter, director of corporate marketing and communications at Samsung Electronics SA. "There is a great sense of pride in creating something unique for our continent. Especially when it is a limited edition, handcrafted accessory that complements the group's technology in the 'real world' as much as it does within the digital space."

The group has a growing global relationship with fashion. Recent collaborations include a limited edition crowd-sourced designed handbag by Alexander Wang (New York City), accessory designs by Moschino (Milan), Nicholas Kirkwood (London) and the Korean label, Kuho womenswear.
