Master class on blogging as a PR tool

The focus of this month's PR-Net meetings will be on the online media environment and available tools such as PR online, blogging and search-engine marketing. Cape Town sessions are on 27 June 2006 and Johannesburg sessions on 28 June.

PR-Net founder, communications consultant and freelance journalist Brian Berkman will present a master class on blogging as a PR tool. "This session will equip you with the skills to shape perceptions online," he says, referring to a FinWeek magazine reporter who referred to him as a US-based PR specialist. "I created a global perception from my office in Cape Town."

Senior staff at Purple Cow Communications will share insights about online advertising and search-engine marketing. MD Leon Lategan will speak in Johannesburg, while Shireen Soloman and Andre Bothma will address the Cape Town meeting.

Cape Town sessions are on Tuesday, 27 June at the Metropole Hotel, 38 Long Street. The 90-minute Master Class session will begin at 3.30pm while the PR-Net meeting begins at 5.30pm and runs until 7pm. Fees are R300 for the Master Class and R80 for the PR-Net meeting.

In Johannesburg, the meetings will be the following day on Wednesday, June 28 at The Westcliff Hotel, 67 Jan Smuts Avenue, Westcliff.

There the Master Class will also begin at 3.30pm for 90 minutes while the PR-Net meeting will begin at 6pm. Fees for the Gauteng meeting are R350 for the Master Class and R90 for the PR-Net meeting.
