Local IT industry embraces the spirit of giving

December 6 - 11 will mark the beginning of a very special week on the local IT industry calendar. PC Format, in conjunction with www.bidorbuy.co.za is holding a public auction to raise funds for CANSA, the Cancer Association of South Africa. The concept centers on a host of awesome gadgets and products from some of the countries leading IT manufacturers and distributors being auctioned off to the highest bidder. All bids will start at just R1!

Tamsin Mackay, editor of PC Format says; "Traditionally every year around this time we give away products from our generous sponsors. This year, we felt that it was time to give something back to the community - and what better way than by using these products in an auction to raise money for a worthy cause. As cancer affects many of our lives in some way or another, we wanted to support an organisation that is committed to changing the lives of so many people in South Africa."

Franco du Plessis, spokesperson of CANSA says; "This is an excellent concept and we are exceptionally proud and excited to be apart of such a wonderful show of human kindness. All the money raised will be given to our association to assist us in our continuous fight against the disease."

The products on auction are sure to generate funds as the bidding will start at R1 for every product, which range from Bluetooth headsets, digital camera's, printer's, a projector worth R32 000, scanners, a projector worth R32 000, games, DVD drives and many more!

Mackay continues; "The cherry on the top for the auction is the chance to spend time with South Africa's greatest export and one of the worlds leading entrepreneurs Mark Shuttleworth. This is an incredible opportunity and reiterates the spirit that encompasses each and every South African when it comes to supporting charitable initiatives."

PC Format would like to thank all the sponsors involved in making this auction possible, especially bid or buy.co.za for use of their auction site, Rectron who donated over 25 products to the auction and Internet Express for generously agreeing to courier all the products to the winners!

Mackay concludes; "I would like to encourage all South Africans to join in the bidding as not only do you have a chance to get your hands on some of the countries leading products for a great price but you will also be supporting an excellent and worthy cause - to make a difference!"
