SAARF events for June

TAMS, Using AMPS

The free SAARF Television Audience Measurement Survey (TAMS) information day will be held on 18, 19, 20 June 2012.

SAARF has recently begun using a new demographic contractor, IHS Global Insight, for population estimates. These were included in the AMPS December 2011 release and the July 2012 TAMS universe update will be using this data. The presentation will show the changes in methodology for producing population estimates, as well as how these changes will affect the TAMS universe. Paul Haupt of SAARF will speak on the demography methodology changes and Chris Eyre of AGB Nielsen will discuss the impact on the TAMS data.

The sessions will run for approximately an hour and a half on the following days:

  • Johannesburg - Monday 18 June @10am The Bryanston Country Club, Bryanston Drive, Bryanston
  • Durban - Tuesday 19 June @9.30 am Southern Sun, North Beach, Durban
  • Cape Town - Wednesday 20 June 9.30am Southern Sun, The Cullinan, 1 Cullinan Street, Cape Town

The Cape Town presentation will immediately be followed by Andrew Fulton of Eighty 20 showing how AMPS survey data can be analysed in innovative ways in order to generate new insights. The presentation will cover a wide range of information, ranging from media, financial, retail etc. The presentation will last approximately an hour followed by some question and answer time and is also free.

LSM Training

The next LSM Training will be held on 12 June 2012 in Johannesburg at the SAARF's offices at a cost of R435 per delegate. Details about the descriptors of each LSM group and how they changed since the introduction in 2001 will also be given. Delegates are requested to bring a calculator with them, as they will go through a 'DIY' exercise to determine their own LSM group. The duration will be approximately two and a half hours. All attendees will receive a free SAARF Segmentation CD.

RAMS Release 2

The presentation of the results from the RAMS Release 2 of 2012 will be held at the Bryanston Country Club on 21 June 2012 at 9.30am. The presenting team will consist of SAARF's CEO: Dr Paul Haupt; Michelle Boehme (technical manager); Tiffany Tracey (senior technical support executive) and Mpho Mathubela (technical support executive) as well as Sue Scott and Angelique Amado of The Nielsen Company. The free presentation will last approximately an hour.
