    New independent newspaper to make appearance today

    A new independent newspaper, The Activist, is scheduled to make its inaugural appearance on the Liberian news stand today.

    The newspaper, which would be operated by a cream of experienced and professional media practitioners, would publish stories and articles relating to evolving issues of national, regional and global concern. A press release issued by the management of the Activist Media Consultancy and Communication Incorporated, publisher of the newspaper, on 5 July 2012, indicated that The Activist newspaper will initially appear thrice weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

    Alfred Juteh Chea, former news editor of the Daily Observer newspaper and also former editor-in-chief of the Heritage newspaper among others is the managing editor/editor-in-chief of The Activist.

    The management assures the public that the paper's editorial staff will, at all times, uphold to the highest level, the ethics of the journalism profession and remain unwavering and uncompromising as an independent, responsible and credible media institution in the performance of its duties.

    The management added that the work of the newspaper would also aim at the sustenance of peace, development and democracy in Liberia.

    Readers are asked to send letters and other articles to the paper's editorial department on diverse issues of societal concern.

    "For the business community, we have not only enough space, but the expertise and wealth of professional experience to effectively market your goods and services to satisfy your ultimate business desire," the release added.

    Meanwhile, the offices of the newspaper are located on the second floor of Crown Hill Cinema Building at the corner of Broad and McDonald Streets.
