Bring on 2012!

Happy Bizmas! It is with great pleasure that I bring you the last newsletter for 2011. What a year it has been! In August I was appointed to bring you industry related news from across Africa and I can say it's been a fairly smooth couple of months in the driver's seat.

Highlights of the year included the celebration of 10 years since our very first newsletter was sent out in 2001. A huge thank you for continuous support over the years.

In September 2011, the Bizcommunity team launched 16 new content channels each containing news, views, research and opinion pieces covering various sectors.

In this newsletter, we bring you a list of most popular articles and those that drew the most comment in 2011.

Sadly, the battle for media freedom continues. This week, in a report by the Committee to Protect Journalists, it was revealed that there are currently 52 journalists imprisoned in Africa, in nine countries. Let's hope that this changes in 2012.

From the beginning of the new year, the 2012 Biz Trends will kick off and run until the end of January, so keep an eye out for this as well as our first newsletter going out on Monday, 9 January.

Let's toast to the past year!

PS: Keep safe during your travels and festivities and see you in 2012!

Evan-Lee Courie (@evan1985)
