Damelin to award brand-new Mini Cooper to one lucky winner

Fourteen (14) semi-finalists were chosen during live draws at Damelin campuses nationwide on Saturday, 31 January 2014, to win a hot volcanic orange Mini Cooper valued at a whopping R300,000.

Each event was a summer party with an electric atmosphere where spectators could join in the excitement as the campuses chose the semi-finalist for their area. Attendees enjoyed a fun-filled morning with a host of entertainment and food while waiting in anticipation for the announcement.

In addition to possibly winning the car, Damelin will be giving each semi-finalist a VIP trip to Durban for the final draw. They will be chaperoned from the airport to the Damelin Westridge campus where the final draw is set to take place, and will be greeted by colleagues and friends of Damelin, as well as their family, press and special guests to witness the grand finale.

Mercia Johene Abramch, 19, of Paarl and Thobile Promise Dlamini, 25, of Umlazi are two of the lucky individuals who excitedly expressed how they feel about becoming semi-finalists.

Mercia, who entered the competition at Damelin Cape Town City, was not present at the draw and received a phone call live where over 200 attendees screamed in excitement and congratulated her. She said, "I really did not expect to be chosen. I have no words to express how I feel as this whole experience seems surreal. I am really excited about going to the draw and I am staying positive that I will win."

Thobile who entered at Damelin Westridge said, "[Laughs], oh it feels absolutely great. When I received the call I was caught off guard and honestly thought that it was a hoax. However, once I was convinced that it was actually a call from Damelin Westridge I couldn't believe what I'd heard. I immediately contacted my parents and informed them of the exciting news. I wait in hope for the final draw and cross my fingers that my name is drawn."

Group Head of Communications for Damelin, Jessie Naidoo said, "Damelin launched the campaign in October last year; attracting thousands of entrants, with a bigger and better approach to the campaign by having it entail two tiers. Tier one was a 'Walk in, drive out,' initiative with no cash, no contract and no catch to enter. The upcoming second tier will require individuals to walk in, register and receive 10 additional chances to win another MINI Cooper. Students have until 28 February to enter and win."

She added, "On behalf of Damelin I would like to congratulate the 14 semi-finalists and wish them luck for the grand finale in Durban in a few weeks. I further encourage them to enter for second tier when they register with Damelin."

Damelin is a multi-award-winning private higher education institution and has over 105 courses offering a variety of higher education degrees, diplomas, higher certificates, certificates and short courses.
