Innovation must be actively supported in AfricaThe Africa Innovation Summit took place in Kigali, Rwanda last week, for the second year running. Delegates concluded that the will and talent for African innovation is there, but needs to be actively supported by business and government in order to flourish. The message from innovators at the five-day conference and exhibition, was that, "Africans must throw out the boxes that have caged them". It is so important to find home-grown solutions to Africa's problems and showcase the talent that the continent has. And in order to develop Africa-wide innovation and create robust ecosystems of innovation, funding and support is mission critical on the continent. The Summit focused on innovative and disruptive solutions to the major challenges facing African countries, which include energy access, water, food insecurity, health systems, and governance. A list of 50 top innovators in Africa was released. Have a great week! Louise Marsland Africa Editor: Bizcommunity.comComment online in our ed's column archive.
