Jamii Bora Bank to lend Ksh4bn to SMEs

Jamii Bora Bank will lend KSh4bn to small businesses between August and December, its Chief Commercial Officer Timothy Kabiru has said.

"As Kenya's leading enterprise bank we want to stay at the frontline in nurturing and building the country's entrepreneurship spirit through provision of affordable and accessible loan products for women and youth entrepreneurs," he said.

He said Ksh3m will be made available without collateral, adding the bank will dedicate 50% of its future lending to the small business sector. "All lending will be in line with our credit policy and our customers will enjoy our prevailing interest rates which are very competitive," he said.

He added that the bank is planning to set up a Business Incubation Centre, which will be dedicated to building capacity for entrepreneurs at start up, intermediate, and growth phases. "At the centre, entrepreneurs will access legal, financial, mentorship, business planning and strategy and governance advisory services which will help to address their formation, stabilisation, growth and capital requirements," he said.?
