Having never seen their original room designs prior to my visit, I was allowed a private tour to compare the old vs the new look. The atmospheric difference between the two as you enter each room is profoundly palpable. Elegant, stylish, and a breath of fresh air is exactly what guests at The Westin Cape Town can expect from the hotel's recently refurbished rooms. With new, modern fixtures, finishes, and furniture to suit the taste of any well-seasoned traveller, the updated look will no doubt hit the right notes with old and new guests alike.
The first refurbishments since it opened its doors, the hotel has embraced a more subdued colour palette that complements the more natural, textured finishes, adding more dimension, flow, spaciousness, and an unexpected luxuriousness to every suite. Responsible for the new look is the Marriott International design team who clearly have their finger on the pulse of current interior design and décor trends, having transformed what were visually outdated lodgings into a sleek, modern experience with a minimalist touch.
With the new design, the hotel aims to "create an inspiring, relaxing and productive environment that will leave guests feeling rested, rejuvenated and energised", and I think they've hit the mark. Having been a guest at a fair number of hotels locally and abroad, impersonal and indistinguishable is my usual impression. The stunning new suite refurbishments at The Westin Cape Town, I believe, has allowed the hotel to set itself apart.
Refurbishments of rooms on floors 12 up to 18 will be completed by November this year, with floors 11 down to get the same treatment in 2019.
